Thank you for choosing Claris Organizer. We're excited about this new release, and hope you will benefit from using it. This document provides some late-breaking information about the product plus several important tips that may make it easier for you to use Claris Organizer. You may wish to print this document to refer to after you have installed Claris Organizer.
POWER MACINTOSH NATIVE SUPPORT
Claris Organizer will now run in native mode on Power Macintosh computers. This will increase the speed with which it runs on Power Macintosh computers.
AUTOMATIC FILE SAVING
Claris Organizer automatically saves all changes you make. This capability is available in all releases 1.0v1,1.0v2 and 1.0v3. Even if your system crashes your information is fully protected.
CONTACT CARD PHONE DIALING
When switching between baud rates using the pop up menu in Preferences, you may need to reset your modem (turn it off then on again). With some modems, the dialog "The modem is not responding" appears after switching the baud rate and attempting to dial out. Resetting your modem will likely solve this problem and allow the modem to dial out correctly.
DIALING INTERNATIONAL NUMBERS
In the Contact Preferences, Claris Organizer now allows you to enter an International Prefix in addition to the US Long Distance Prefix. Organizer will automatically dial the International Prefix for phone numbers preceded by the plus sign ("+").
PERFORMANCE TIP--INCREASING MEMORY SIZE
As with any Macintosh program, you will experience faster performance if you increase your application memory size. This is especially true if you are importing large files or working with large files.
When importing a large file into Claris Organizer (over 1000 records) increasing the amount of memory set aside for Claris Organizer will reduce the time required for the import.
To change the amount of memory Claris Organizer uses:
1. If Claris Organizer is running, select Quit from the File menu to exit the application.
2. Open the Claris Organizer 1.0v3 folder and click the Claris Organizer icon once.
[If you click the icon twice, you start Claris Organizer. If that happens, choose Quit
from the File menu and try again.]
3. Choose Get Info from the File menu.
[You see the Claris Organizer Info window.]
4. Double-click the Preferred Size box.
[You see the size text highlighted in the box.]
5. Type a number to change the memory size.
[For a large import file, 1400-1600K will be enough.]
6. Close the information window.
After importing your data, you can save your file and repeat the above steps to set Claris Organizer memory back to 1200K.
